Mr. Owen has represented insurance companies since he left the State Attorney General’s office over thirty years ago. This practice has included direct representation in regulatory and transactional disputes as well as defense of insureds. His practice today involves defense of health care professionals and institutions in medical malpractice cases as well as aviation products liability cases. Mr. Owen was educated at LaGrange College (B.A., 1962) and Emory University (J.D., with distinction, 1971) where he was named to the Bryan Society and Order of the Coif. He served as Managing Editor, Journal of Public Law (1970-71). Mr. Owen is a member of the American Bar Association; Defense Research Institute, Georgia Defense Lawyers Association (Board of Directors), and the Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association. He was a carrier based pilot in the United States Navy (1963-1968) and served as Senior Assistant Attorney General, State of Georgia (1971-1975), representing the Insurance Commissioner and other State agencies.
